Bingley

On the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales, discover Bingley’s ideal combination of small-town living, well-priced properties and commuter appeal.

Bingley sits squarely in Bronte Country, just north of Bradford in the Aire Valley.

To the west is Haworth, home to the Bronte Parsonage. Even if you’ve never picked up a copy of Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights, the lovely village is well worth a visit. To the north, the rolling Yorkshire Dales mean the question ‘Where shall we go this weekend?’ always has an easy answer.

The busy little town is divided by the River Aire and is crossed via the historic Ireland Bridge, known locally as ‘Bat Bridge’ ever since repairs were delayed as a result of a rare species moving in.

The town centre is a bustling haven of local shops, an open market 3 days each week, and a great selection of bars and restaurants. Local properties are reasonably-priced, meaning families don’t need huge salaries to be able to afford a good home.

Transport links

Bingley is a 15 minute drive from the centre of Bradford, and you can drive to the centre of Leeds in around 40 minutes. By train, you can reach Bradford in just over 15 minutes and Leeds in around half an hour, making it an excellent location for commuters who want quick, simple journeys to work but relish living outside the city.

Local amenities

You’ll find an ALDI and Co-Op in the centre of Bingley. Other, larger supermarkets are a short drive away in Keighley or Shipley, but there is a good selection of local shops and a street market every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Myrtle Park is a lovely space for walking the dog or going for a jog. In summer it plays host to Bingley’s largest community events: the Bingley Show (a thriving, family country show of crafts, farm animals, horse jumping and stunt riding) and Bingley Music Live, which attracts an impressively A-list roster of acts every year. The rest of the year it’s a great space for picnics, playground fun, and fishing.

Bingley swimming pool and sports centre are close to Myrtle Park, while horse riding and archery are both available at the nearby St Ives estate.

Bingley has a number of GP practices and dentists locally.
